Tetema is the gift that keeps on giving for Tanzanian artist Ray Vanny. The original version was released six years ago, and according to Ray Vanny, it almost never happened.
Producer S2Kizzy had initially made the beat for someone else, and Diamond Platnumz, Ray Vanny’s boss at the time, first thought the track wasn’t good enough. But during a road trip, Diamond happened to hear it again by accident and couldn’t wait to jump on the song.
On August 9, 2025, global star Nora Fatehi released a remake of the hit alongside Ray Vanny. Titled Oh Mama Tetema, it’s already becoming, in Nora’s own words, “a summer banger.” In just five days, the track racked up 13 million views on YouTube.
This is the same song that, after being remade by another global megastar, Maluma, propelled Ray Vanny to perform in countries whose names he couldn’t even pronounce, in arenas he had never dreamed of playing.
