Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Mainland NBC Premier League 2025/26 champions Young Africans SC (Yanga) have been fined Tanzania Shillings 100 million by the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) after the club’s players and technical officials failed to use the designated official dressing room during their title-clinching match against JKT Tanzania.
The sanction, announced by the TPLB following a meeting of its Competition Management Committee held on July 2, is one of the heaviest disciplinary fines imposed on a club in recent seasons and comes only days after Yanga sealed a fifth consecutive league title with a 3-0 victory over JKT Tanzania.
According to the league body, Yanga violated Rule 17:20 of the NBC Premier League Match Regulations by using a house adjacent to the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam instead of the stadium’s official dressing room before the match.
TPLB said the punishment was issued under Rule 27:7 of the league’s disciplinary regulations, which empowers the board to penalise clubs that fail to comply with match organisation requirements.
The latest sanction adds to Yanga’s growing disciplinary record over the same offence. In May 2026, the club was fined Sh30 million after its players and technical staff similarly declined to use the official dressing room at another league venue.
Beyond the financial penalty, the Competition Management Committee has referred two senior Yanga officials to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Disciplinary Committee for further action.
The officials are Hersi Said, the club’s Chairman, and Andre Mtine, Yanga’s Chief Executive Officer. TPLB said the pair allegedly provided explanations that lacked merit regarding the repeated breach of regulations governing the mandatory use of official dressing rooms.
Their referral raises the possibility of additional disciplinary measures beyond the monetary fine already imposed on the club.
The punishment comes despite what has otherwise been another dominant domestic campaign for Yanga. The club wrapped up the 2025/26 season at the top of the standings after defeating JKT Tanzania 3-0 in the final league fixture, securing a fifth successive championship and further cementing its dominance in Tanzanian football.
The disciplinary announcement was part of a broader package of decisions released by TPLB covering several competitions. Among other rulings, Mtibwa Sugar were fined Sh5 million for a similar dressing-room violation, while KMC received a warning over player jersey numbering during their match against Simba SC.
The league board said all penalties were issued in accordance with the applicable competition regulations following its review of matches played during the closing stages of the 2025/26 season.
