Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Mainland Premier League defending champions Young Africans Sports Clubs (Yanga) have today unveiled a new set of jerseys as part of their ongoing battle against counterfeit kits in the market.
The club, through its spokesperson Ally Kamwe, announced that this second edition of jerseys has been introduced following the rapid sale of the first batch, which was launched on August 24, 2025, as the official kit for the 2025/26 season.
Speaking to journalists, Kamwe stressed that counterfeit jerseys remain one of the toughest challenges the club is facing, forcing them to take different measures.
“The fight against counterfeit jerseys is not easy. Our official stock for this season sold out, yet we continue to receive reports of large consignments of fake Yanga jerseys entering the country which are not from our sponsor GSM,” said Kamwe.
He explained that the second edition comes with significant changes, including a new manufacturer and different fabric material, in an effort to protect fans from being misled.
“We believe this launch will offer a lasting solution to the problem of fake jerseys. Fans often struggle to distinguish between original and counterfeit, but this edition will make it much clearer,” he added.
In addition to the jersey launch, Kamwe also called on Yanga fans to turn out in large numbers to support the team in their CAF Champions League return leg match tomorrow in Dar es Salaam against Angola’s Wiliete Benguela.
Yanga head into the fixture with a comfortable advantage after securing a 3-0 away victory in the first leg, putting them in a strong position to progress to the next stage of the competition.
